Warm Weather Brings Inspiration For Wonderful Loose Leaf Iced Tea

Iced Tea! It comes in so many different flavors and can be made a few different ways. On a hot day when you want more than just plain old water to quench your thirst a nice tall glass of home made iced tea hits the spot. You could go with the powdered stuff that you find in the grocery store or you could go with a loose leaf from your local tea shop. I buy my tea from the local tea shop here in town appropriately called "The Tea Centre". They sell wonderful fresh, imported loose leaf teas. Here is their website address.......... www.teacentre.ca. Go check it out.

I am going to share with you a few of my favorite teas to drink iced.

I would have to say that at the top of my list is Japanese Lime containing Japan sencha tea, lemon peel, daisy blossoms, and natural flavor. This tea is so very refreshing iced. I let the tea sit loose in the iced tea jug for a good couple of hours with a few slices of lemon and lime as well.

Pearls Of The Orient would be next on my list of favorites. This tea contains Ceylon black tea, green sencha, jasmine flowers, pineapple bits, mango pieces, sunflowers, and natural flavouring. It is so fragrant and delicious. You get a mix of black tea and green tea with the added wonderfulness of jasmine and fruit. You can add any fruit you would like to your iced tea or just drink it straight.

Prickly Pear is a very unique tasting tea and is wonderful iced or hot. It contains Sencha green tea, cranberry pieces, cactus flowers, orange blossoms, and pear flavor. It is hard to describe this tea as anything but delicious and refreshing. A dear friend bought this one for me on my birthday and last year and I have bought it ever since.

So those are just a few of the many tea's I love to drink iced. I use my Bodum Ceylon Iced Tea Pitcher to make my tea. It has a wonderful compartment for loose leaf tea

You can also just throw your loose leaf tea in the jug without the strainer in it and just pour your iced tea through a little personal strainer that sits on the top of your glass as you pour. Use about 4 TBSP of tea for a good sized pitcher, add filtered water and let it steep in the refrigerator for at least an hour depending on how strong you like your tea. You can also use hot water to get your tea steeping a little faster and then chill it. Sweeten to taste and enjoy.
